This workshop will explore how we can move beyond the usual church labels by engaging with broader musical traditions to create worship that is both rich in content and diverse in appeal.
This workshop will display and discuss prayers that have been composed to complement psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs in Lift Up Your Hearts.
We will examine resources from recent hymnals and various ecumenical perspectives on bringing the riches of scripture to musical worship
This hymn festival was on July 25, 2013 at the Calvin College Chapel. Held in conjunction with a well-received weeklong organ clinic on hymn playing and improvisation led by Dr. John Ferguson from St Olaf College and Dr. Cornelius Plantinga from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. Musicians participating in the clinic also joined in the service.
A Day of Learning brings together grant recipients and community members to discuss, share, and worship together as well as to consider how disciplined creativity, theological integrity, and healthy leadership practices work together in the worship renewal process.

In worship, Christ is proclaimed to us not only in the Word that falls on our ears, but also in the “visible words” that are set before our eyes. At the font, God’s grace is washed upon our brows, and at the Lord’s Table, it is received into our hands and tasted with our mouths.
