CICW has awarded Vital Worship, Vital Preaching Grants for over 20 years to teacher-scholars and worshiping communities in 45+ states and provinces and across 40+ denominations and traditions—including Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Pentecostal, non-denominational, and other Protestant communities.
While worship styles and practices vary greatly across these traditions, the grant projects typically explore at least one of CICW’s ten core convictions related to worship. Explore the hundreds of projects we’ve funded across both streams of the program.
To unite existing Korean-, English-, and Chinese-speaking Christian communities in worship by training leaders for new multilingual chapel services featuring rotating language leadership and real-time translation.
To bring together a longstanding Presbyterian worshiping community and its Latino neighbors through the development of culturally blended worship services.
To promote vibrant, multilingual worship through a multicultural preaching and worship lab that will form, equip, and unite two diverse congregations.
To provide a space for Korean-speaking and bilingual households to worship, pray, and listen to God’s word in culturally and spiritually relevant ways.
To expand a collaborative preaching model that transforms the traditional sermon into a shared act of interpretation through a combination of coaching, consulting, research, peer learning, and Spanish-language accessibility.
To foster Spanish/English bilingual worship and preaching through leadership training, outreach practices, and translation technology.
To promote healthy spiritual formation for Korean American youth and young adults in New England through resource development, worship retreats, and spiritual formation discipleship cohorts.
To translate and publish a hymnal of bilingual Kreyol-English songs for use by new Haitian-Americans and neighboring church communities as a way to welcome and embrace one another through congregational song.
To create bilingual (Spanish/English) liturgies and music from and for Latino people, especially in the Lutheran tradition, that respect and honor the Latino cultures present in the congregation.
To empower and train church members to create and record bilingual songs and liturgical resources for Lent, Holy Week, Easter, and Pentecost.
To create and implement a model of bilingual worship that will foster church unity among worshipers from different generations.
To train church leaders to develop fully bilingual worship services, Bible studies, small group meetings, and church school.
