Religion News Association is a charitable, literary and educational organization whose purpose is to promote excellence in media coverage and in public discourse about religion. RNA envisions religion reporting and commentary informed by civility, accuracy, fairness and insight.

RNA was founded in 1949 to advance the professional standards of religion reporting in the mainstream media and to create a support network for religion reporters. The Association's primary projects include an annual conference, contests for religion reporting, membership resources and mentoring.

In 1999, RNA created an educational and charitable arm, the Religion Newswriters Foundation. Since its founding the RNF has received millions of dollars in grants to create tools and training for religion reporters, including our website, ReligionLink, the Lilly Scholarships in Religion Program, a religion stylebook and primer, webinars (online seminars) and regional training events, among others.

Religion News Association is the world's only association for journalists who cover religion. As a member of RNA, you'll have access to the tools, resources and support you need to be an effective religion reporter. For example, our annual conference can help you generate story ideas, leads and sources for a front-page religion story. Our bimonthly newsletter will give you tips on how to be a better religion writer, as well as keep you up-to-date on the latest religion trends. Our member networking provides priceless support from your peers, and our other online tools will fill in the rest.
