WORKSHOP

Since the 2016 election season in the United States, there has been much talk about the “white evangelical” political demographic. Many of us preach in the context of predominantly white congregations with some affiliation with or affection for evangelicalism. How now are we called to preach, particularly around social, cultural, and political topics that many in our congregations might deem out of bounds for preaching? What does it mean to say we are called to preach a prophetic word, and what does prophetic preaching even sound like? In this workshop, Rev. Reggie Smith and Rev. Meg Jenista Kuykendall lead the discussion on these questions.
