CONFESSION

Scripture Reading: Psalm 133, Ephesians 4:1-7, and Galatians 3:26-28

Prayer of Confession

We confess to you, generous God
that we struggle to receive what you offer us.
We hurry past your love.
We often treat ourselves with condemn  ation and even contempt.
We confess to you, living God,
our failure to live as beloved children.
We confess to you, loving God,
that we have not loved as you have loved us.

We confess to you, gracious God,
our failure to live in harmony as sisters and brothers.
We have failed to maintain
the spirit of unity you have given us.
We confess to you, Sovereign God
that we have not acknowledged you
as over all and through all and in all.
Our lips have prayed
“Your will be done on earth as in heaven”
but our lives have spoken otherwise.
Lord, have mercy on us.
