Worship is a product of culture; and culture is born of technology, media, and communication patterns. Every new technology creates a new cultural ecology—a shift which creates fresh, but often unconscious, expressions and theologies of worship. This presentation explored the major historical shifts in technology and their dramatic impact on worship in the church. The digital age immerses us in a state of phenomenal complexity, convergence, and consumption. It is radically shaping the present and future of worship. Too many of us are completely unaware of their true effects.
Presented by Shane Hipps at the 2013 Calvin Symposium on Worship.
