CICW has awarded Vital Worship, Vital Preaching Grants for over 20 years to teacher-scholars and worshiping communities in 45+ states and provinces and across 40+ denominations and traditions—including Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Pentecostal, non-denominational, and other Protestant communities.
While worship styles and practices vary greatly across these traditions, the grant projects typically explore at least one of CICW’s ten core convictions related to worship. Explore the hundreds of projects we’ve funded across both streams of the program.

To deepen worship participation and foster a sense of belonging by engaging in the communal creation of a mosaic quilt for the worship space while participating in guided story circles that bring the lived experience and spiritual life of the community into the creation process.

To enrich ministries across the church by integrating practices of preaching, testimony, and prayer into weekly Bible studies, outreach ministries, and worshipers’ daily lives, leading to restoration and spiritual growth for those navigating reentry and life transition.

To expand and enrich worshipers’ understanding of scripture and the elements of Reformed worship by immersing worshipers in scripture, broadening understanding of the power of poetry and music in worship, and partnering with neighbors and scholars to engage biblical history, story, and genre.

To reimagine weekly worship rehearsals as intentional spaces of spiritual formation, theological reflection, and multicultural leadership development, complemented by quarterly gatherings for deeper theological study, together to cultivate both current and emerging worship leaders who are spiritually grounded and equipped to lead unified bilingual worship.

To form college students as worship leaders through a mentored cohort model that pairs students with practitioners in preaching, worship arts, and eucharistic baking in order to offer hospitality, faith flourishing, and renewed worship life.
