    Cultural Values in Ministry—October 2025
    Developed in partnership with the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship and the Calvin University School of Graduate and Continuing Studies, this online course equips worship planners and leaders of all types of ministries with practical tools for relating well to people from a variety of cultures. Understanding and respecting cultural differences is key to a healthy ministry.

Vancouver Urban Ministries

To train 20 worship leaders and other interested congregants through Bible studies and workshops focused especially on the Psalms and Vertical Habits, Christ-centered hospitality, Scripture reading, visual arts, creative and relevant music and collaborative planning and evaluation that will be contextualized to form participatory and communal worship services in one of the most impoverished districts in Canada.

To facilitate multi-generational and multi-cultural education in worship arts with an emphasis on the Psalms that will incorporate unique cultural contributions of people in the congregation from many nations.

The River Community Church

To teach Vertical Habits through a series of seven worship services that will include creative elements focused on Scripture and a person in history who cultivated a specific Vertical Habit.  The series will include take home materials that will help both adults and children practice the habit throughout the week.

Bethlehem Church

To encourage continuity of worship practices in daily life by studying with local pastors, educating and training congregational leaders in Adult Sunday School, presenting a monthly drama that focuses on particular practices to encourage the development of that habit in personal life, and designing and displaying monthly banners to reinforce each practice.
