To explore how Biblical psalms can and should be used in corporate worship and private devotion in order to aid the church in singing, worshiping, and praying well.

This syllabus follows a course on Christian congregational song, ranging from Old Testament psalms to contemporary praise-worship songs, from traditional Western hymnody to global worship songs, with some attention to cultural context and practica.

The course is taught by Dr. Emily Brink, Senior Research Fellow at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. She will be joined by guest lecturer Paul Ryan, Calvin College Associate Chaplain for Worship.
