Research shows a decline in adolescent and young adult participation in church. An essential first step in responding to this crisis is being reintroduced to the new adolescent that dwells in our homes, schools and church communities.

What has changed and what has stayed the same in the lives of our kids? How have we, as adults and the church, adjusted in our response to this new adolescence? In the afternoon the seminar focused on how both parish and parachurch youth ministry must re-tool in order to provide the best possible environment for a lasting, “sticky” faith for our young people.

Surprised by the Psalms

Anneke Kaai studied fine art and painting in the Netherlands at secular schools in the 1960s and ’70s. That experience compelled her to express her Christian faith through her art. She has painted many works based on scripture, including three series of paintings on the psalms, which she sees as a bountiful resource of imagery for the full range of human feelings in relation to God.
