Dominique DuBois Gilliard has distinguished himself as a tireless advocate for prison reform in the United States, especially in calling the church to lead the way. His book Rethinking Incarceration: Advocating for Justice That Restores tackles the shortcomings of the prison system in the U.S. and calls for Christians to promote reconciliation within our prisons instead of punishment. The workshop has spent time interviewing Rev. Gillard about his book, his work, and ways in which local churches can get involved in providing reconciliation to inmates and contributing to practices of restorative justice.
