Fred R. Anderson

Dr. Anderson served congregations in Northern New Jersey and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, prior to becoming Pastor of Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church in March of 1992, where he served until retirement in 2015. A noted pastor/scholar, preacher, teacher and liturgical theologian, he was a member of the drafting team that wrote the PCUSA Directory for Worship, and an editorial consultant for The Book of Common Worship. His articles on preaching, weekly communion, hymnody and worship have appeared in numerous theological periodicals and journals. His hymn and metrical psalm texts appear in Protestant and Catholic hymnals in the U.S., Canada, Australia and Asia.
