Brian Hehn

Brian Hehn is an inspiring song leader who is just as comfortable leading an a cappella singing of “It Is Well” as he is drumming and dancing to “Sizohamba Naye.” Experienced in a variety of genres and instrumentations, he has led worship for Baptists, Roman Catholics, United Methodists, Presbyterians, and many more across the U.S. and Canada. Most recently he served as percussionist for the World Council of Churches’ 11th Global Assembly in Karlsruhe, Germany. He also serves on the faculty at the Junius B. Dotson Institute for Music and Worship in the Black Church and Beyond.

Hehn received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Wingate University and his Master of Sacred Music degree from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. He also is certified by the Choristers Guild in children's church music (K–12). He has written articles on sacred music and congregational song for multiple journals and coauthored two volumes on liturgical drumming under the title All Hands In: Drumming the Biblical Narrative (Choristers Guild). Hehn serves as director of The Hymn Society’s Center for Congregational Song adjunct professor of church music at Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina, and director of liturgical worship and discipleship at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sweet Air in Phoenix, Maryland. He lives in Baltimore with his beautiful family: Eve, Jakob, and Clara.
