Ruth Naomi Floyd

Ruth Naomi Floyd is a renowned vocalist, composer, educator, and photographer whose extensive body of work spans more than thirty years and intersects theology, history, justice, and the arts. She is celebrated for a pioneering discography of sacred jazz compositions and significant historical works. Notably, she is the first African American woman to serve as the founding director of a university jazz studies program in the United States. She currently serves as an artist-in-residence at Temple University and has held numerous residencies and visiting scholar positions, in addition to performing concerts nationally and internationally.
