Profiles

Derek C. Schuurman worked as an electrical engineer for several years before earning his Ph.D. from McMaster University, where he studied robotics and computer vision using machine learning. He is currently professor and chair of computer science at Calvin University, a fellow of the American Scientific Affiliation and the International Society for Science and Religion, and an advisor for AI&Faith.

Schuurman is the author of Shaping a Digital World: Faith, Culture and Computer Technology, co-author of A Christian Field Guide to Technology for Engineers and Designers, and editor of Christian Wisdom for the Age of AI: Insights for Education, Health Care, Vocation, Culture, and the Church. All three books are published by InterVarsity Academic Press.
