This ecumenical hymn festival will be held in the wonderful singing space of the Basilica of Saint Adalbert on the West Side of Grand Rapids (654 Davis NW).
The festival will include a choir of more than fifty from area churches, Catholic and Protestant, along with organ, brass, timpani, guitar and more.
All the songs are by hymn writers born in or working in Michigan, from the well-known "You Are Mine," by David Haas, to a setting of Psalm 42 by Greg Scheer; a world premier of a new concertato by Roy Hopp; a recent song written and performed by Ken Medema; and more—with a rousing ending with Ray Haan’s setting of "God of Grace and God of Glory."
Emily Brink will be the commentator, Bob Batastini, choir director, and Peter Kurdziel, organist.
Co-sponsored by the local American Guild of Organists and the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada.
