Call to Discipleship:
Simon,
When you were baptized,
God said to you,
“I love you.  You are part of my church.  Listen to me.”
We have put on Christ.  In him we have been baptized.  Alleluia!  Alleluia!
                 [refrain from Sing! A New Creation 240]

Stating your faith:
Simon,
Do you trust in God and say “no” to Satan?
Yes.
Does Jesus forgive your sin?
Yes.
With God’s help, will you obey Him and show love to other people?
Yes.

Let’s all answer the following questions:

Do you believe in God the Father?
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God?
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into hell.
The third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit?
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

We have put on Christ.  In him we have been baptized.  Alleluia!  Alleluia!

Prayer:
Faithful God,
in baptism you claimed us;
and by your Spirit you are working in our lives,
helping us to live lives worthy of our calling.
We thank you for leading Simon
to celebrate his baptism.
Guide Simon by your Spirit
so that he may grow in faith, hope, and love.
For yours is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.
Amen.

We have put on Christ.  In him we have been baptized.  Alleluia!  Alleluia!

Laying on of Hands:
O Lord, defend your servant Simon.
so that he may continue to be yours forever.
May Simon grow in the power of your Spirit
until he comes to your eternal Kingdom.
Amen.

We have put on Christ.  In him we have been baptized.  Alleluia!  Alleluia!
