Vital Worship, Vital Preaching Grants

The Vital Worship, Vital Preaching Grants Program at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship is designed to foster, strengthen and sustain well-grounded worship in congregations throughout USA and Canada. Two streams of grants are offered--to teacher-scholars and to worshiping communities.

We welcome grants on a wide range of Christian worship practices, with particular interest in universal design, preaching, cultural engagement, and practices related to baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Grants to teacher-scholars support integrated research that connects worship with other disciplines of study and practice.

Scholars in any field who teach at a seminary, divinity school, college, or university.

Projects that connect worship with other disciplines of study and practice—liberal arts, theological education, or sciences.

Grants to worshiping communities stimulate thoughtful and energetic work that will result in worship services that exhibit renewed creativity, theological integrity, and relevance.

Congregations, parishes, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and other worshiping communities.

Projects that connect a community’s public worship to intergenerational faith formation and Christian discipleship.

These grants are made possible through the generous support of Lilly Endowment Inc.
