Join us for a night of learning with the Rev. Dr. Lisa M. Weaver. Dr. Weaver will present on her current historical research into the worship practices of early enslaved Americans. This presentation, which takes place during our week-long seminar “African American Religious Autobiography,” is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
The Reverend Lisa M. Weaver, Ph.D., is assistant professor of worship at Columbia Theological Seminary, in Decatur, Georgia. The focus of her research and teaching is also her life’s passion: the worship life of the Christian church. Her current research interest focuses on the liturgical practices of enslaved people of African descent during the American colonial period as witnessed to in [en]slave[d] narratives. An ordained pastor in the American Baptist Churches U.S.A., Weaver also serves as a Vital Worship Grants Program advisory board member.
