This seminar in The Theology and Practice of Pastoral Ministry is supported by the Sustaining Pastoral Excellence program of the Christian Reformed Church.

This seminar in "The Theology and Practice of Pastoral Ministry" is supported by the Sustaining Pastoral Excellence (SPE) program of the CRCNA. One of the core values of SPE is that strong pastoral identity is the key to sustaining pastoral excellence and being effective leaders in the church.

In this seminar, we will:

  • Study the theology and practice of pastoral ministry with a view to creatively and critically engaging changing views of the church and its ministry in our contemporary culture.
  • Integrate this theological understanding of pastoral ministry with the basic practices of congregational leadership.
  • Review case studies on leadership issues and gain tools for effective leadership, using William Willimon's book Pastor: The Theology and Practice of Ordained Ministry, and Herrington, Creech & Taylor's The Leader's Journey: Accepting the Call to Personal and Congregational Transformation.
