Elmer was raised in New Mexico and taught art there for twenty-six years. His work includes three large murals from 1980-89, sermon illustrations, and paintings. He exhibits his work wherever God opens the doors. Many times his exhibits are accompanied by lectures on art, faith and life. His faith in God and his Navajo heritage influence the results of his paintings.
