Summer Institute on Theology and Disability 2016
The vision of the Summer Institute on Theology and Disability is to expand the depth and breadth of theological inquiry and resources that address and include the gifts, needs, and contributions of people with disabilities and their families to theological learning and religious practice.

The 2016 Summer Institute on Theology and Disability will be held at Hope College and Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan, May 23-26, 2016. The Institute brings together academics, theologians and others to explore the inclusive intersections of faith and disabilities.
May 23 “Community Day” – Can’t make it for all four days? Sample the institute at Community Day, featuring SI-TED talks by the Summer Institute faculty and more.
May 24-26 – These days include major presentations each day, discussion with speakers, discussion groups arranged around core issues of interest to participants, morning and afternoon meditation, 30 workshops led by Institute participants, and our Ph.D. student symposiums.
One of the afternoon presentations will be “Universal Design for Worship: Shaping Worship for Persons of All Abilities” by Barbara Newman with responses by John D. Witvliet.
The Institute will include the Cooperative Resource Exhibit, visits to the Friendship House at Western Theological Seminary, optional excursions in the evenings, and lots of networking.
