Studying, reciting, singing, and praying the Songs of Ascent from the book of Psalms helped Centerpoint Community Church make its worship and spiritual formation more intergenerational. It also gave people a shared language for bringing all their emotions to God. The church created a website to make all of its Songs of Ascent resources freely available.

Rural populations are declining in many parts of the US and Canada. This change has pushed many denominations and congregations to find new ways to provide preachers and pastors for rural churches.
Indigenous cultures are storytelling cultures. So were the cultures of ancient Israel and its neighbors—the cultures Jesus lived among. First Nations Version (FNV) projects translate the Bible through the intertribal lens of Indigenous people in North America. The latest project, FNV Psalms and Proverbs, remains faithful to the Old Testament’s Hebrew poetry and wisdom literature while offering new ways to help readers place themselves in God’s story.
Many Christian publishers offer books of hymn stories, hymnals that follow the lectionary and church year, and devotionals based on hymns or the lectionary. Two new resources by Chris Fenner provide all three in one—hymn stories and sources, hymns, and lectionary-based devotionals to match each hymn. Both Hymns & Devotions for Daily Worship and Hymns & Devotions for Daily Worship: African American Edition begin with Advent.

En la Primera Iglesia Presbiteriana de Aguada, ubicada en Aguada, Puerto Rico, el sonido de la fe ha adquirido un nuevo ritmo. Entre acordes de bomba, plena y seis, una comunidad ha descubierto cómo la música autóctona puede convertirse en vehículo para la adoración y el fortalecimiento espiritual. El proyecto, titulado “Alrededor de la Palabra”, surgió como una iniciativa que unió a pastores, músicos y laicos en un proceso creativo que celebra la identidad cultural y la vida de fe del pueblo boricua.
AGUADA, Puerto Rico — At the First Presbyterian Church of Aguada, the sound of faith has found a new rhythm. Between the beats of bomba, plena, and seis, a community has discovered how Puerto Rican folk music can become a vehicle for worship and spiritual renewal.
El documento analiza el papel de Lamentaciones en la liturgia cristiana durante la Cuaresma, centrándose en la tragedia de Jerusalén tras la invasión babilónica en 586 a. C. Destaca el sufrimiento extremo vivido, las preguntas sobre el papel de Dios ante la catástrofe y la reflexión sobre los pecados del pueblo. A pesar del dolor y el odio generados, surge una nota de esperanza al recurrir a la memoria y la fe. Finalmente, se propone utilizar las cinco elegías del libro de Lamentaciones como inspiración para reflexionar sobre el sufrimiento y la esperanza en contextos contemporáneos.
CAGUAS, Puerto Rico — The First Baptist Church of Caguas is experiencing a season of spiritual and community renewal after a long journey focused on revitalizing its worship life. Under the theme “The Time to Sing Has Come,” the congregation launched a series of initiatives blending music, theological study, biblical reflection, and intergenerational participation to rediscover worship as a holistic expression of faith.
La Primera Iglesia Bautista de Caguas, ubicada en Caguas, Puerto Rico, vive una etapa de renovación espiritual y comunitaria tras un año de intenso trabajo centrado en la revitalización de su vida litúrgica. Bajo el lema “Ha llegado el tiempo de cantar”, la congregación ha impulsado una serie de iniciativas que integran música, formación teológica, reflexión bíblica y participación intergeneracional con el fin de redescubrir la riqueza de la adoración como experiencia integral de fe. Alberto J. Díaz Rivera, pastor de la congregación, explicó que el proyecto surgió de un proceso de discernimiento sobre cómo fortalecer la espiritualidad y la comunión. “Nuestro proyecto estuvo basado en un proceso de revitalización de la experiencia de la adoración a través de la incorporación de músicos, de la capacitación y de la comunión entre creyentes”, señaló.
