Mary S. Hulst

Mary S. Hulst has served as University Pastor at Calvin University since 2009 after obtaining a PhD in communication ethics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before that, she spent eight years serving as the senior pastor at Eastern Avenue Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids. She preaches regularly at Calvin and elsewhere, lectures around the country on preaching, teaches occasionally at Calvin Theological Seminary, and consults with churches and search committees on how to listen to sermons. Her book A Little Handbook for Preachers (IVP Praxis) was released in 2016.
