Jeremy Begbie

Thomas A. Langford Research Professor of Theology

Jeremy Begbie is Thomas A. Langford Distinguished Professor at Duke Divinity School, Duke University, where he directs Duke Initiatives in Theology and the Arts. Jeremy teaches systematic theology and specializes in the interface between theology and the arts. His particular research interests are in the interplay between music and theology. A professionally trained musician, he has performed extensively as a pianist, oboist and conductor. He is an ordained minister of the Church of England, having served for a number of years as assistant pastor of a church in West London. His books include A Peculiar Orthodoxy: Reflections on Theology and the Arts (Baker Academic), Redeeming Transcendence in the Arts: Bearing Witness to the Triune God (Eerdmans), Resounding Tr­­uth: Christian Wisdom in the World of Music (Baker), and Music, Modernity, and God (OUP).
