Come Down, O Love Divine, David Ashley White (College Chapel)
Sanctify Me, V. Michael McKay (Fine Arts Center)

*Greeting

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship
of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
And also with you.

*Song of Praise: I Know that My Redeemer Lives, arr. Hal H. Hopson

All: I know that my Redeemer lives; what joy the blest assurance gives!
He lives, he lives, who once was dead; he lives, my everlasting Head!

All: He lives, to bless me with his love; he lives, to plead for me above;
he lives, my hungry soul to feed; he lives, to help in time of need.

Choir: He lives, and grants me daily breath; he lives, and I shall conquer death;
he lives, my mansion to prepare; he lives, to bring me safely there.

All: He lives, all glory to his name; he lives, my Savior, still the same;
what joy the blest assurance gives; I know that my Redeemer lives!

Call to Confession, based on Romans 8:39

Prayer of Confession

Eternal God, you do not change.
You have revealed yourself to us in your Word
and given us the Holy Spirit.
You call us to worship you in spirit and in truth.
Forgive us when our worship shapes you into what we want
instead of shaping us into what you want.
Help us to meet you here, that we might bow
before your great majesty and holiness
and so live for you now and ever,
in Christ our Lord, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

All sing (first in English, then in language of your choice):

"Agios O Theos"

*Assurance of Pardon, from Romans 8:1

*Passing of the Peace

*Response of Praise: "To God Be the Glory"

Proclamation

Prayer for Illumination

Lord of heaven and earth,
pour out on us the abundant gifts of your Holy Spirit.
May the work begun by the Spirit on the day of Pentecost
continue in us as we hear your Word and do your will. Amen.

Scripture: John 14:25-31

Sermon:

"Living without Jesus?" (FAC)

Moment of silence

Response

*Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

*Song of Faith: "Before the Throne"

The Lord's Supper

Invitation

*Great Prayer of Thanksgiving

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right for us to give thanks and praise.

It is right, and a good and joyful thing,
always and everywhere to give thanks to you,
Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
In the beginning
your Spirit moved over the face of the waters.
You formed us in your image and breathed into us the breath of life.
When we turned away and our love failed,
your love remained steadfast.
Your Spirit came upon prophets and teachers,
anointing them to speak your Word.

And so, with your people on earth
and all the company of heaven,
we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

"Holy, Holy, Holy"

We give thanks to God the Father
that our Savior, Jesus Christ, before he suffered,
gave us this memorial of his sacrifice,
until he comes again.
At his last supper, the Lord Jesus took bread,
and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said,
"This is my body, which is for you;
do this in remembrance of me."
In the same way,
he took the cup after supper and said,
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood;
do this in remembrance of me."
For whenever we eat this bread and drink this cup,
we proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
-based on 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

"Memorial Acclamation" (Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.)

Lord, our God, send your Holy Spirit
so that this bread and cup may be for us
the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
May we and all your saints be united with Christ
and remain faithful in hope and love.

Gather your whole church, O Lord,
into the glory of your kingdom.
We pray in the name of Jesus,
who taught us to pray:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.

[breaking the bread] The bread that we break
is a sharing in the body of Christ.
We who are many are one body, for we all
share the same loaf.

[pouring the cup] The cup for which we give thanks
is a sharing in the blood of Christ.
The cup that we drink is our participation
in the blood of Christ.

Everyone is invited to be seated, and then come forward as directed, receiving the bread and dipping it into the cup, and then returning to your seats.
