Mexico City - Slideshow

In May 2008, a team of nine people participated in a trip organized and sponsored by the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship to Mexico. The purpose of the trip was to attend and participate in two worship conferences with significant contributions of Latin American voices of scholars, theologians, pastors and musicians.

In May 2008, a team of nine people participated in a trip organized and sponsored by the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship to Mexico. The purpose of the trip was to attend and participate in two worship conferences with significant contributions of Latin American voices of scholars, theologians, pastors and musicians.

The worship symposium in Mexico was repeated twice: First in Mexico City at La Comunidad Teológica de México from May 19-21, and again in Tabasco in cooperation with H. Presbiterio del Golfo de Mexico, Ministerio De Education (the Presbyterian Church of Mexico) from May 22-24.

The team from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship included Mariano Avila (NT professor at Calvin Seminary), Rosy Avila, (Spanish translator for the Christian Reformed Church in North America), Robert Nordling (Orchestra Conductor at Calvin College), Betsy Steele Halstead (Visual Artist at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship), John Van Buiten (Music and Worship student at Calvin College) and Anne Zaki (Resource Specialist for Global Worship at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship). The team was also joined by three key Latin American voices: Edwin Mora (Costa Rica), Gerardo Oberman (Argentina) and Horacio Vivares (Argentina). This is in addition to a handful of other presenters who live and minister locally.
