Statistics suggest that 70% of the global population will experience at least one traumatic event in their lifetime and that 30% will experience four or more traumatic events. While people respond to traumatic events differently and have different levels of resilience, trauma itself seems ubiquitous. This workshop will consider what it means to read the Bible in light of trauma and explore what resources and wisdom the Bible offers for trauma healing. Session | October 17, 2023 Promoting a Culture of Goodness through Worship It seems not a week goes by when a church isn’t in the news for issues of sexual, emotional, or spiritual abuse. This workshop will explore worship practices and postures that cultivate in worshipers not only a deeper love for God, but deeper love and empathy for others. Attendees will leave with concrete ideas and considerations for song choices, prayers, in-between words, and other elements of worship.
