Joni Sancken is associate professor of homiletics at United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio. Joni teaches in the area of homiletics. Her research interests include theological approaches to preaching, women preachers, preaching about the cross and resurrection and preaching in a context of trauma. She is author of Words that Heal: Preaching Hope to Wounded Souls (Abingdon, 2019); co-author with Luke Powery and John Rottman on Getting to God: Preaching Good News in a Troubled World (Abingdon, forthcoming 2021); and Stumbling Over the Cross: Preaching the Cross and Resurrection Today (Cascade, 2016). She is a member of the Academy of Homiletics and ordained pastor in Mennonite Church USA.
