This workshop, called God's Story and Our Story - Worship that Connects, will renew enthusiasm for worship. Attendees will learn new ways to plan and lead meaningful worship for diverse groups of people.

Rev. Joyce Borger, workshop leader, has years of experience helping worship leaders develop their skills and solve practical challenges in churches across North America. Joyce is the Senior Editor of a new hymnbook, Lift Up Your Hearts, and Editor of Reformed Worship, a magazine of worship resources. Rev. Borger will be the guest music leader at a Hymn Festival at Calvin CRC on Sunday, November 3.

Schedule

9:00 am: Opening Worship


Morning: “Bringing It All Together: Planning and Leading Worship with Diverse Worshipers in Mind”
Joyce Borger will discuss principles and good practices for worship that connects God’s story with the real lives of diverse groups of people. Examples and illustrations. Small group discussion on practical issues. Share learning with others. Submit your question or challenge in advance, and Joyce will address it.


Lunch: Time for Informal Sharing


Afternoon: Your choice of two workshops:
“Integrating Different Styles of Music,” led by Joyce Borger.
Through practical examples, learn to draw on a wide range of music to help worshipers experience God’s story and live it out. Discussion and question time.


“Engaging Worshippers in Scripture Reading,” led by Doug and Jane Porter.
Through examples this session will explore different ways to read Scripture in worship.


Closing Worship


Lunch will be provided.
